Being away from your country of origin and of nuturing for a significant amount of time makes one homesick.  After 10 years away from home, Goodman O'Rourke painted a Union Jack to put on her wall at home.  When it was snapped up by photographer and friend Simon Bruty, she began painting more.  Over the summer of 2012 the 'flag phenomenon' was written about in the Daily Mail Newspaper in London, following a show of flags in DC.
